Rogers Resisted Attacks and Won in California

Michael Rogers had to fight frantically to accompany his two most serious competitors for the Jersey-Levi Leipheimer (Team Radioshack) and David Zabriskie (Garmin-Transitions). The duo put pressure on Australian when they attacked him in the Rock Store-the ascent but Michael Rogers had enough cream into legs to defend the lead.

The trio came to the goal together so Rogers won by nine seconds ahead of David Zabriskie and 25 seconds ahead of last year’s winner, Levi Leipheimer.

“It was a tough day. I am so glad that I was able to hold on to the Golden Jersey and win overall in the Tour of California, “said Michael Rogers to Cyclingnews.

Ryder Hesjedal was loose along with George Hincapie (BMC Racing Team) and Carlos Barredo (Quick Step) during the stage and their splinter group held all the way to the finish. In the Sprint was the Canadian the strongest and Hincapie finished second, Barredo trick and Chris Horner (Team Radioshack) was the fourth man over the line.
