Bjarne Riis revealed at a press conference in Copenhagen that Saxo Bank continues as the main sponsor of Riis Cycling a/s, and Alberto Contador signed a contract with the team. Thus there will be no new other major sponsor stepped in. The team’s name next season will be the Team Saxo Bank-SunGard.
The Danish Bank already announced in January that this season would be the last as a sponsor to Bjarne Riis Pro team but now they have thus changed his mind and signed a new contract that makes Saxo Bank to sponsor another year, along with the American IT company SunGard.

Team Saxo Bank’s current two big stars of the stage race, Fränk and Andy Schleck, have already announced that they will leave the Danish team. They are expected to connect to the new Luxembourg team.

Bjarne Riis does not stand and fall after the loss of brothers. He has found the best possible replacement in Alberto Contador.

“I am proud to introduce Alberto Contador as part of our team next year and I am proud to have attracted the world’s best cyclist to a Danish team, says Bjarne Riis.

“Alberto is a world riders as it is with pride that I present him as part of the team for the next two years. With three Tour de France victories and with a position as number one in the world rankings so he will no doubt belong to bicycle the world’s elite for many years to come. Alberto gets a sincere and strong team in the back that can back him up in any terrain. I’m sure it will be a fruitful cooperation, continues Bjarne.

Fabian Cancellara is expected to remain in the team for next year because he has one year left on his contract with Riis Cycling a/s, and Gustav Larsson.
