Spoon Lures for Bass Fishing

Whether you want to fish trout or predators, the spoon fishing is certainly one of the most used and the most effective casting techniques. That may seem simple at first, variations in the use of these lures can make the difference.

Lures for Bass Fishing

The undulating spoons

A bit abandoned by the new generation, artificial baits for fishing come back in full force with the catfish fishing. Few models exist for trout while dozens coexist for of predators and Pike fishing.
The undulating spoons are forms more or less elongated and concave or “s”. One could generalize by saying that they look like a real spoon. Quite round and concave models hover more downhill and will have a draft more important during the surveys. They will tend to turn into linear. “S” models will flow faster, but will be more pleasant to animate. Linear fishing is possible with the latter. They are usually armed with a triple hook.
The main animation is drawn followed by a planing phase phase. We can do so more or less close to the bottom according to the middle and looking fish and more or less abruptly. You can also pull into linear interspersed, or not, of breaks.
For this type of fishing, a fast action Rod will be tailored in order to animate your lure as precisely as possible. Back to the articles on the choice of the low line and the main line for wire.
There are a lot of efficient models on the market. The MEPPS syclops are references in France, but Northern, specialists of the subject countries offer surprising and efficient models while DAM or CAPERLAN to meet budget.

The rotating spoons

Rotating spoons are very fashionable and especially very effective for trout fishing. This technique takes fish easily and requires only little material that seduces a large audience. It is used less in France for predators but it remains formidable.
The rotating spoons are fitted with a pallet mounted on an axis on which is connected a triple hook. The (or the) palette (s) revolve around this axis at the back and creates a strong fibrations attracting predators. There are different forms of pallets: Carolina (Oval), (lying), Willow leaf leaf oak… creating more or less draught and so more or less turning easily. The palette is mounted directly on the axis or with a caliper. Mounted range nearest axis rotates on the axis and so more quickly. The quality of the rotation then depends on the quality of installation and materials. Rotating spoons will come in different colors. The classics are the silver and the gold with or without red or black points. The rule is to use a natural color in clear water. PomPoms may adorn these lures. To bi or triple pallet variants also exist.
The animation is simple: throw – back! However, we can print different rhythms and a very short breaks to decide the fish followers.
Cane, this time, should bemedium regular action to absorb the vibrations produced by the spoon. In addition, fish bite very well with this technique and the hooking do not need to be very supported.
Level model, once again MEPPS is the reference. But I like to use almost as effective Caperlan. The Blue fox, Panther Martin or Swiss offer alternatives with different fixtures (without Stirrups, noisemakers, original pallets…).

The spinnerbait

It is a mix between a rotating spoon and a jig. Mounted on a shaft in steel folded into a triangle, the top of the lure consists of a several pallet in all shapes and colours imaginable. The bottom of the decoy is composed of a jig moulded directly on the axis. Again we find here all materials possible (rubber wire, feathers…) and all forms and existing colors. We can build a flexible lure or not on the shank of the hook, called “trailer” like on a jig.
This lure is very fashionable with the younger generation, and for good reason, it is very effective, especially on master Esox which meets there vibrations and imitation of a prey.
The spinnerbait has the advantage of little cling and through better beds than its congeners. We will bring generally linear, but named trippy animations “helicopter” may trigger attacks.
A stick of regular-fast animation will be ideal to make the most of the characteristics of this lure. There are hundreds of models on the market. It is difficult to establish a selection both the prices and the quality (and this is not necessarily always related) vary. Top of the range one can evoke the great Eruption of Illex, the Booyah have many efficient and inexpensive models, Davis is also on this niche and finally the American brands cheap spinnerbait are often good.

The Spoons To Jigger

These models are especially intended for fishing by boat to the vertical but sometimes they are involved in throwing back. They are very effective on the pike perch and perch and can complete the palette for example lead technique.
There are multitudes of forms for this technique: elongated Willow leaf forms that can also be launched, a triangular, of the “ice – jig”…
The animation is usually down a decoy in the vertical position, let him hitting bottom, get in touch and put it back together a few centimetres before starting a more or less pronounced vertical animation.
For this, a cane for vertically with a somewhat flexible tip action is ideal. We’ll pick her good to detect keys, sensitive, who often leagues on the way down.
I particularly like the “ice – jig” (of brand RAPALA) who give fantastic results on apathetic fish accustomed to see and review flexible lures.
