The Fishing Farnangaio

Tipped as one of the best natural baits for catching large pelagic fish, such as barracudas, mackerels, gold, and fish spout, the farnangaio (Hemiramphus brasiliensis) it is also a fish very sporting of our beaches. Have the body elongated, with about 20 to 30 centimeters, dorsum slightly greenish and a beak, long and red at the tip, which gave rise to the expression: “I would like to know who passed the lipstick on the mouth of the farnangaio”. At the table, that is a tidbit too tasty to be enjoyed in the company of a good glass of beer. But the great quality is the potential for jumps and pulled frenetic, even more valued when it is fished with the right equipment.

The technique
The farnangaios are usually very close to the edge, especially on days with a calm sea, a few waves and mild climate. You should throw the set away as far as possible, to then collect the line, slowly. The lead currency will come rotating in the flower of the water, rotating the leg and the baits. The fish came with them and tend to attack them more close to the surf. It is when we feel a weight and we can see the their heels. But note: even so, you should continue with the same speed, without giving any stride or speed it up, because they are rid easily of the hook.When you are in the sand, just swing the cane for that to release. The technique is the same when using float pitch instead of the pso. It is normal, during the fishing farnagaios, we capture also pampos, palombetas and guaiviras, who attend the same strip of water, leaving the fishing even more fun.

The making of the lead coin

As it is difficult to find this model in stores, I usually make them from scratch caseiramente. The step-by-step is simple:
– Remove two funds can of aluminum;
– Cut approximately 5 inches of a encastoado small to do the “staple” of the lead;
Password the clamp on the inside of a lead oil 15 grams and knead it to attach the clip, giving a currency format;
– Place the set on one of the sides concave bottom of aluminum;
– Apply a mixture of glue and epoxy, and then close with the other part.
Finalized, the lead-currency will have about 20 grams.
