Tips for Staying Warm with a Sleeping Bag

After a day of hiking, once in his sleeping bag, one dream only of one thing: a good night restorative warm. Yet it does not always happen like that! Who has not had an unpleasant cold sensation that prevents falling asleep or wake up at night?

No heat source nearby, it is difficult to warm up once you are cold and shivering all night in the back of his sleeping bag is not the most restful night ever.

This problem is common and is partly related to the fact that walking is generally must wear a sleeping bag and that one seeks to optimize its weight-you can not take the soft quilt that is usually used at home .

However, this is not the only cause, there are best practices to optimize the warm feeling once in his sleeping bag and some practices that should be avoided at the risk of spending a night to feel cold, even with a sleeping bag “hot”.

1-Use a cloth bag

As we speak of isolation, know that it is possible to use a cloth bag inside his sleeping bag, preferably silk and not cotton to earn a few degrees if necessary. It also helps not to dirty his sleeping bag and maintain its performance.

There are also thermal sheets that save a few degrees and allow more versatility.

2-Cover your head

Surely you know that much of your body heat is removed through the head. If you are cold, try to cover your head with a cap , the hood of your sleeping bag or even a turban made with clothing – the “heat gain” is always surprising.

3-Warm feet

Some people have difficulty to sleep with cold feet. If you are in this case, you probably know. In this case, do not hesitate to sleep with socks rather “hot” and rub your feet to warm them (them on your calves or your hands, for example).
